[Japan Association of Music Enterprises(JAME)]
The Japan Association of Music Enterprises began in 1963 when it was established as a voluntary association by businesses involved in music production in order to improve and modernize the music business and related businesses. Later, in 1980, it received the approval of the then Minister of International Trade and Industry to become an incorporated body tasked with widely contributing to the daily lives of the citizens of Japan by working for the healthy development of the music business as well as a qualitative improvement in culture and entertainment. From that point on it has operated as a public-service corporation under the administration of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
In addition to carrying out surveys, research, training, and seminars regarding the music business and related businesses in order to fulfill its role as a public-service corporation to contribute to society, the organization also works to maintain, manage, and protect intellectual property such as copyright related rights, name and portrait rights, and publicity rights. It is also proactively engaging in projects to contribute to society such as exchanges and various projects with related internal and external organizations, activities for the protection of the environment, and disaster support activities.
Although the organization was changed to a general incorporated association in April 2012 as a result of the reform of the public-service corporation program, it will continue to engage in its numerous activities centered on projects that contribute to society.
